Chicago Cares mobilizes volunteers to build a stronger, more unified Chicago. Since 1991, the nonprofit organization has been working toward a Chicago where every citizen is an active participant, fully invested in the city we call home and the success of all of our neighbors. Chicago Cares inspires volunteers to meet Chicago’s immediate needs, while also creating a movement for long-term change – building trust and empathy among people who might not otherwise meet, and empowering Chicagoans to roll up their sleeves to solve the city’s most pressing challenges. To realize this vision, Chicago Cares creates approximately 150 volunteer projects open to the public every month, more than 100 corporate volunteer programs every year, and annual events including Serve-a-thon, the city’s largest volunteer day.
